Sri Lankan Cricket Inviting Foreign Cricketers For SLPL

Sri Lankan cricket officially invites to foreign international cricketers for participate SLPL T20 (Sri Lankan Primer League) cricket tournament to be held in next August.Sri Lankan cricket was earlier scheduled this SLPL tournament be held last year but had to be postponed.Cricket team member told "We are negotiating with the cricket boards from other countries and we hope we can get down the best players for the tournament to be held in August". But at the moment Sri Lankan cricket board is badly stuck in the  financial problems and many Srilankan cricket lovers saying this will be the end of the Sri Lankan cricket board.


6000KG Of C4 Explosives Founded

On Sunday night police team  have been found 6000Kg C4 explosives from Pudukudirippu. Police believed these explosives are hidden by the LTTE at the final days of the war.The explosives over weighing 6000Kg is the largest haul of C4 explosives to have been recovered  following the end of the 30 years war between the military and the rebels.police said the explosives were probably hidden to be used for some sort of attack just before the rebels  were defeated.

ICC T20 World Cricket Championship Will Held in Sri Lanka

Fourth ICC T20 tournament will be held in Sri Lanka on next September.Sri Lankan cricket spokesman said ICC will direct  grant 9.4 million U.S dollars for Sri Lankan cricket.Also cabinet spokesmen Keheliya Rambukwella said Sri Lankan tourist board expecting more tourists will arrive in that cricket match season.Also he said fourth T20  tournament with the participant of 20 men and women teams went promote the country's image and tourism.
The ICC is also to spend an additional 30 million U.S dollars in Sri Lanka for the event which will see the participant of 12 cricket play nations. Totally 52 matches will be played at four venues in 20 days in next September.





Suicides,Child Abuse and Rapes Seen A Steady Increase In Sri Lanka

Police department says that the cases of suicide incidents, child abuse and rape of women s have been increased last few years. Police department said that at least 6343 cases of rapes and 15153 cases of child abuses have been reported in last 5 years.Most of the cases have been reported in the Anuradhapura district. Also suicide cases have been increasing significantly in these days and  most latest story was reported in Eppawala in Anuradhapura District.Police department statistics said that averagely 12 suicide cases have been reported in every day in island wide and almost it revealed that120 people attempt to suicide in Sri Lanka daily.According to WHO statistics Sri Lanka is in the 11th place of the most suicide cases reporting countries.

MTV Wins Rights To Broadcast "Olympics 2012" In Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan privately owned television company won the battle of local Olympic broadcasting right first time in the Sri Lankan history. Maharajah Broadcasting Corporation who won this broadcasting right and they fought with giant in the industry like state owned Sri Lanka Rupawahini and Carlton Sport Network to achieve the right. MTV and MBC  that run seven channels expect to bring in special event of 2012 Olympic in Sri Lanka. So far Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation held the broadcasting right of Olympics.  

Three Young Srilankan Employers Had to Died In Korea

Three young Srilankan s who working together in the same company in Busan  city at South Korea had to died in case of fire. Incident was happened in last 6th of May inside the Karaoke bar in a hotel in the third floor. These three had attended a dinner hosted by the company when unfortunately a fire had broken out after an electricity leakage from another floor.It reported another 6 people had killed and 25 people had injured of that incident. These died Srilankan s names are Thilanga Sasika,Gamini Jayakody and Chamara Gayan.Bodes would be flown and Handed over to their families by the authorities of the Foreign  Employment Bureau of Sri Lanka.

Srilankan Airlines Flying High


Srilankan Airlines is the national airline of Srilanka.At the beginning it called as Air Ceylon. Then 1979 name was changed again as a Air Lanka.In 1998 present name (Srilankan) was came as a result of the 10 year privatized agreement with the Dubai based Emirates group. Now that agreement was finished and Srilankan airline fully control by the Sri Lankan government.Now it operate to destinations in Asia and Europe, from its base and hub at Bandaranayake international airport. Currently  it serves 61 destinations in 35 countries.Also now they introduced a air-taxi service for local and foreign tourist for travel around this beautiful country and at the moment Srilankan airlines has 23 luxury air crafts for  giving a luxury service for their passengers.

Latest Situation About Sri Lankan Tourist Industry

Past civil war have badly harmed Srilankan tourist industry, it have reduced the tourist arrivals to Sri lanka.But today all changed and last few years Srilankan tourist industry grows rapidly.During last three months (2012 January,February & March)236,910 tourists visited this beautiful country.This is a huge increase compared to last year's figures. Also it is an 18.11%increase.It has been observed that tourists are visiting the country from every part of the world including Asia,Europe,Western countries and African countries. Considerable number of tourists are visiting from Switzerland.It has been noted that tourist arrivals have significantly increased annually.Meanwhile, many new tourist attractions and locations situated especially in the North and East are attracting tourists.

Srilankan Malinga Become Top in IPL

Srilankan fast baller Lasith Malinga was become a top in the IPL most wicket takers ladder.Also he was at the best baller in this 2012 series as well.Lasith participated IPL since 2009 and he was took 81 wickets from 51 IPL matches.He is a good asset for his team (Mumbai Indians)and his captain(Sachin). he balling with his own round arm action and it is the his secret of getting more wickets.Now he only playing ODI and T20 cricket for his country during 2010 but almost he had a 100 test wickets in his career.

World famous artist " Shaggy" was performed his 2nd Sri lankan concert in last April 24th in Colombo CR & FC ground. Few years earlier (2000) he was arrived to Sri Lanka for his 1st concert.After the 12 years from his first visit he didn't forgot to give his best rhythm for Sri Lankan crowd.In that day CR & FC ground was Fully pack from Saggy's fans and special thing was Shaggy sung a sinhala baila song for first time to his Srilankan fans. Shaggy is a Jamaican reggae artis who came a feild on early 1990's.Boombastic,Angel,Women those are his most popular songs.He was a Grammy awarded singer.

Living Cost Raising Up In Sri Lanka



Quickly after the Sinhala Hindu new year season Srilankan goverment has been raised up the prices of several consumer products.Latest effected products are Gas,Milk Powder and the Cement.Minister Jonsten Fernando announced 12.5KG gas cilinder price will be increasing Rs350 and all the milk powder 400g pack will going up Rs65.Also 50Kg cement pack price will going up to Rs70.According to this situation Milk powder,Gas are not been available in the shops.Becouse of that decision consumers have faceing many difficulties.
